Description

In this Year 1/2 unit, students create compositions and perform music to communicate ideas to an audience, addressing aspects of the Music Australian Curriculum.

✩ It is a 9 lesson unit (designed to be taught over a term) that contains all resources including posters and rhythm cards. While this unit covers the foundational knowledge needed to complete the unit, it is not the best unit to use if this is students first exposure to music lessons. Try the Year 1/2 Responding to Music Unit instead in that case.

✩ This unit is best used once students have some basic knowledge about music and if using our other music units, is recommended to be used in term 3.

✩ This unit works best if students have an instrument they can learn to play like a glockenspiel, xylophone or keyboard. This comes up in 4 of the lessons.

✩ The editable planner includes relevant Australian Curriculum links.

✩ The lessons are kept simple and succinct, five to six steps each, to help you save time. The clear instructions highlight the key points, allowing you to focus on the students and make the most of the learning opportunities.

✩ Mrs Amy123 is known for its fun and engaging lessons that involve a wide range of cooperative learning strategies. This means that some lessons will not feature worksheets, though some will.

✩ This unit also includes a grading guide that shows what each grade (A-E) would look like based on two activities from the unit. This document is also linked to the Achievement Standard for Year 1/2 Music.

Included are:

♦ Editable planner (7 pages)

♦ Worksheets (1 page)

♦ Resources (~30 pages)

♦ Editable Grading Guide (1 page)

♦ Editable learning intentions and success criteria
