This download includes 4 apple-themed barrier games which could be used on Johnny Appleseed Day.

Barrier games allow students to practice oral language skills, including directional and descriptive language, the ability to give and follow directions and teamwork skills.

In the first barrier game, students add seeds to an apple, in the second they add apples to a tree. In the third game, students create an orchard scene featuring Johnny Appleseed himself. In the final game, students arrange a fruit bowl.

Print, laminate and cut out the pieces. Pay close attention to the instructions for each activity as all game pages need printing twice.

Some of the activities do feature small pieces, so cutting can be tedious. You can get away with roughly cutting the shape out around each figure, not using some of the pieces or printing A3 size.

Included are:

  • Teacher explanation pages (4 pages)
  • Game pieces (8 pages)
