Teach or revise parts of speech (grammar) in a fun way with these 40 sorting strips.
Covers nouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, pronouns, conjunctions, prepositions and interjections.
Students are given a sort and must find the strip with 'start' written on it. They then read the first part of speech category and find the next strip that has the word that belongs to that category. You may wish to time how long it takes the students to do each sort for extra challenge or motivation.
Print, laminate and cut the strips so that each strip contains an answer and a question. Store each sort with an elastic band or in a zip lock bag.
Print pages and leave whole to act as answer keys for students to mark their own work. Print sorts two to a page to save paper.
These worksheets are excellent revision before NAPLAN for year 5 and Year 7 students.
Some words could belong to more then one category if students get to the finish before using all pieces they may have to look for words such as this.
