Description

In this Year 2 unit, students investigate a local person or place and their importance, addressing aspects of the HASS Australian Curriculum.

✩ It is a 9-less unit (designed to be taught over a term) that contains all lesson resources including worksheets and posters.

✩ This HASS unit also contains an editable PowerPoint presentation that can be displayed during each lesson. It includes the learning intentions/success criteria, key discussion points, worksheets and display resources. This makes teaching every lesson even easier if your classroom has a T.V or Smartboard.

✩ The editable planner includes relevant Australian Curriculum links.

✩ The lessons are kept simple and succinct, five to six steps each, to help you save time. The clear instructions highlight the key points, allowing you to focus on the students and make the most of the learning opportunities.

✩ Mrs Amy123 is known for its fun and engaging lessons that involve a wide range of cooperative learning strategies. This means that some lessons will not feature worksheets, though many will.

✩ This unit also includes a grading guide that shows what each grade (A-E) would look like based on two activities from the unit. This document is also linked to the Achievement Standard for Year 2 HASS.

✩ Please note some of the lessons in this unit requires you to get photos and information on a local important man-made and natural place as well as a significant person. You also need a map of your local community. All other resources needed are included.

    So engaging

I have a confession. History has to be my least favourite subject to teach....that was until I purchased this unit. My students loved the activities in this unit and were very engaged with the learning. My students were always asking are we doing History today?? The lessons are sequential building on their prior knowledge without going over the same material. Highly recommend this unit to everyone teaching year 2!!
