• The representation of contemporary Australia as states and territories, and as Countries/Places of First Nations Australians prior to colonisation, and the locations of Australia’s neighbouring regions and countries.
• Significant events*, symbols and emblems that are important to Australia’s identity and diversity, and how they are celebrated, commemorated or recognised in Australia, including Australia Day, Anzac Day, NAIDOC Week, National Sorry Day, Easter, Christmas and other religious and cultural festivals.
• *Does not include anything on significant events as these are best done through out the year around those days.

• Develop questions to guide investigations about people, events, places and issues.
• Locate, collect and record information and data from a range of sources, including annotated timelines and maps.

• How language groups of Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples divide their Country/Place and how this compares to the surveyed boundaries of Australian states and territories.
• The location of Australian states, territories, capital cities and major regional centres of Western Australia.
• Significant events, symbols and emblems that are important to Australia’s shared identity and diversity, and how they are celebrated, commemorated or recognised in Australia.
• The location and identifying attributes of Australia’s major natural features.
