Description
This Rounding Number Activity has never made rounding numbers more fun!
A car on a hill will roll if it doesn’t have brakes on. It will roll one way or the other depending on where it is on the hill. This is the same when rounding numbers. On one side you have 1,2,3 and 4 and the car will roll back. 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 are on the other side of the hill and the car will roll forward.
To use the display, write the number to be rounded on the middle rectangle, then drive the car to the number you are trying to round. This will show you which way the car will roll, and you can write the rounded number in the box at the bottom of the hill on the correct side. If the car will roll backward, round your number down, and write it in the box on the left. If the car would roll forward, round your number up and write it in the box on the right. You can use different hills for rounding tenths, ones, tens or hundreds.
