Help your students discover the power of drama to express ideas, perspectives and meaning with Communicate — a 10-lesson drama unit designed for Year 3 and 4 students. This unit supports learners as they move beyond basic improvisation and begin shaping purposeful dramatic work that reflects their thoughts, emotions and understanding of the world around them.
✩ Fully aligned with Version 9 of the Australian Curriculum, this unit addresses outcome AC9ADR4C01: improvise and/or devise and shape drama using the elements of drama to communicate ideas, perspectives and/or meaning.
✩ Through improvisation, devising, character exploration and collaboration, students develop their ability to use drama as a creative form of communication.
✩ Lessons are supported by printable resources, including planning sheets, scene prompts, and reflection tasks.
✩ Two summative assessments are built into the unit: a group performance and a written or drawn student reflection.
✩ Each lesson begins with a fun, purposeful drama warm-up and contains 5–6 structured steps to make delivery simple and time-efficient.
