Description
This 10-lesson unit is designed to build confidence, creativity, and performance technique in Year 3 and 4 students as they prepare and present devised and scripted drama in informal settings. Aligned with Version 9 of the Australian Curriculum, Take the Stage supports students to develop voice, movement, characterisation, and stagecraft while working collaboratively toward performance.
✩ Students explore the elements of drama through engaging warm-ups, mini performance tasks, character building, and improvisation games. As the unit progresses, they rehearse and refine short scenes, both improvised and scripted, with a clear focus on audience awareness, expression, and staying in role.
✩ All lessons are designed with busy teachers in mind – they follow a consistent structure, begin with warm up drama activity and offer plenty of opportunities for creativity, reflection, and classroom discussion.
✩ This unit includes two summative assessments: a performance task and a student reflection, both supported with editable checklists and templates.
