In this engaging 10-lesson unit, students learn how to develop characters and situations, and shape and sustain dramatic action to communicate ideas, perspectives and meaning in improvised, devised and scripted forms. This unit guides students toward confident, imaginative and collaborative storytelling.
✩ Aligned to Version 9 of the Australian Curriculum (AC9ADR6C01), students explore physical, emotional and fictional spaces to build believable characters and dynamic scenes.
✩ Across the unit, students create characters, respond to prompts, plan and rehearse scenes, and explore how characters’ perspectives can influence the development of dramatic action.
✩ A strong focus is placed on collaboration, improvisation, and rehearsal strategies. Students explore space, gesture, voice and tension to shape their scenes and deepen meaning.
