Introducing our Operations Maths Program for year 6 students where they solve problems involving the use of brackets and order operations using efficient mental and written strategies. This digital downloadable resource aligns with the Australian Curriculum and consists of five engaging modules, spanning across 25 lessons, designed to be taught over the course of a year. Use mathematical modelling to solve practical problems involving natural and rational numbers and percentages, including in financial contexts; formulate the problems, choosing operations and efficient calculation strategies, and using digital tools where appropriate; interpret and communicate solutions in terms of the situation, justifying the choices made (AC9M6N09)

Find unknown values in numerical equations involving brackets and combinations of arithmetic operations, using the properties of numbers and operations (AC9M6A02)

Solve problems that require finding a familiar fraction, decimal or percentage of a quantity, including percentage discounts, choosing efficient calculation strategies and using digital tools where appropriate (AC9M6N07)

Explore, identify and represent square, prime and composite numbers in arrays and explain reasoning (WA6MNAUN3)

In real-world situations involving whole numbers, order of operations and fractions with the same denominator, use the following process: I. analyse the situation and identify relevant information, II. mathematically represent the situation, including using equations to reach a solution, III. interpret and communicate findings in the context, exploring and justifying decisions. Determine a familiar fraction, decimal or percentage of a whole number (WA6MNAC5)

Choose and use flexible and efficient strategies to calculate with whole numbers, involving any of the four operations, and explore the use of the order of operations (WA6MNAC1)

Develop plans for savings goals, predict expenses and identify that saving money with a bank attracts interest (WA6MNAF1)

Complete, check and construct statements of equality and inequality involving the four operations, including the use of brackets and order of operations, and explain reasoning (WA6MNAUE1)
